The following is a letter from one of our hearing patients to Dr. Kaplan:
November 24, 2010
Thank You. The words are so short, so simple. Yet they convey an emotion in this case so deep. You gave me something incredible on this last visit – not just pieces of plastic and bits of silicon.
You gave me my hearing.
You gave me one of my five senses.
I wonder if you have any idea what this means. I doubt you can imagine the magnitude of your gift. Part of my life has been restored and if it wasn’t for you and your willingness to listen to ALL of what I was going through, it might never have happened. Over the years I have slowly, quietly, been retreating from friends and family. I sat in rooms without ever being part of them. You’ve given me back an enormous part of my friendships.
For the rest of my life I will use these, or some form of them. And I will do it with a smile on my face and the image of you listening to me as you wander through your office. You were willing to listen, and now I can hear.
With The Deepest Of Gratitude, Love, and Friendship,
